Abu vs Wada : Court adjourns to the 27th of
November, 2019 as Wada remains the candidate of the PDP.

Justice Olorunfemi of the Lokoja High Court, Kogi State has adjourned the case between Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Engr Musa Wada for further hearing of the matter to November, 27th 2019.

In Suit No. HCL/KG/38/2019 ABUBAKAR MOHAMMED IBRAHIM VS PDP & 2 ORS, The matter came up today for defense,  However, the matter could not go on, as there has been a change of Counsel for the first defendant, a notice of which was filed and brought to the attention of the court this morning in the cause of proceedings.

The new Counsel for the first defendant applied for adjournment to enable him study the file and prepare for defense. The matter was adjourned to 27th, November 2019 for defence.

Council to the first defendant, Mr. K. Olowookere Esq. argued that the issue before the high court for hearing is a pre-election matter and that his lordship can not be misguided into giving judgement before or after the speculated time of 180days as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“Any attempt to suggest a specific date for judgement to his lordship is unconstitutional” Olowookere noted

He also pleaded to be given time to study the case file to enable him prepare for defense since he newly  took over the case from the previous council handling the case.

Justice Olorunfemi in his wisdom granted the plea and adjourned that the case be heard on the 27th, of November 2019.

Recall that, the ruling party through various channels including the gubernatorial candidate who is in court for a case of double registration of permanent voters card (PVC), Senator Smart Adeyemi and Edward Onoja had boasted that the PDP will head into the gubernatorial elections without a candidate. With this singular adjournment, their efforts and speculations has come to naught as Engr Musa Wada remains the authentic candidate of the PDP.
